APEX P02: Algebra-based Physics - Advanced

2025-02-19

Course Description : APEX Algebra-based Physics – Advanced (APEX P02) is an algebra-based, college-level physics course that explores topics such as Newtonian mechanics; work, energy, power, torque and experimental design. This course will provide students with more real-world applications and problem solving practices compared to APEX Algebra-based Physics -- Introductory (APEX P01). Through a lot of exercises, students can understand and apply classical mechanics from shallow to deep. Before this course, students are strongly advised to complete the study of APEX Algebra-based Physics – Introductory (APEX P01) . This course focuses on deepening understanding of mechanics concepts, establishing physical models, and proficient in applying physical formulas. This course uses online teaching for a total of 30 .hours, and students are expected to complete their homework in about 10-30 hours. After completing this course, students are advised to take the AP Physics 1 exam and take subsequent APEX Calculus-based Physics courses.

Prerequisite: APEX P1 or the equivalent.

Reference book:  "College Physics: A Strategic Approach," by Knight, Jones, and Field, or an equivalent textbook.

*We do not require students to use the book for our course. Instead, we strongly recommend students to take notes and take advantage of lesson slides, lesson recordings, homework assignments, homework solutions, exams and office hours to maximize their learning outcome.
